Lady with her striking dog

I arrived in Gasgow two days ago.

Bikes are unpacked, and we rode about 10 miles to a micro brewery in the center of Glasgow yesterday. Goal was to get used to riding on the left, and to make sure that the bikes are in good working order. Everything's in order.

Dogs are allowed in pubs, but only if they're well behaved.

Leaving this morning with bikes to take a train to the ferry in order to start a four-day cycling journey. Destination: the Isle of Arran, and points north.

For reference, this is a view across the street, before leaving Glasgow. Appreciate the touch of blue in the sky.

Reykjavik Airport

In my experience, this is one of the most common places to find 'unfamiliar':

Lucky for me, the only signage was in English:

My bags ready for trip to the airport.

The tomato went to the kind neighbor who transported me to the airport.

(Curious whether one photo will publish from limited bandwidth of airport wifi - answer: no)

Packing the bike - weekend before

Here is a series of photos showing the disassembly of my Bike Friday.
Skip if you don't like technical details.

1) Full bike, in front of suitcase, & packing materials.

2) Bike minus pedals, rack and fenders:

3) minus seat & seat post:

4) minus front wheel and handlebars:

5) Stem removed, and protective coverings added to all painted surfaces of bike.

Next step is to fold down yellow seat post parallel to frame, and to fold back wheel clockwise and under frame.

Disassembly up to this point took about forty minutes. Squeezing into the suitcase took another 40 min (it's a good thing that I didn't record the audio).

Here is my new Bike Friday, outfitted with toe clips, rack, and fenders.

I will pack the bike in its suitcase this weekend ( you can anticipate my next photo, and my next post).
